Wet and Wild Activities to Try whilst Staying at the Lansbury Hotel
London is a truly global city that offers a whole host of activities for couples, friends and families. Whilst there are historic attractions and shopping opportunities, we know there is much more available to you.
Be in the know before you arrive and discover four exhilarating adventures for you to enjoy. The question is can you fit them all into your stay?
Open Water Swimming
Begin the day right with a few laps of a new Canary Wharf open water swimming site. Located at Middle Dock, it is managed by Love Open Water which ensures the cleanliness of this setting. Burn off your breakfast or while away an afternoon in the striking surroundings of One Canada Square.
To take part you will need to sign-up for the affordable annual NOWCA membership (£15.00), which grants you access to all of the 40+ NOWCA venues here in the UK. A lifeguard is on duty at all times so it is perfect for families. You enter the water from the Mackenzie Walk pontoon and changing huts are provided.
Priced at just £8.00 for a 3-4 hour swim, it is a perfect way to relax in the City.
Cutty Sark Rig Climb
Combine history with adrenaline whilst ascending the rigging of this world-famous ship. Since first setting sail in 1870 Cutty Sark has been transformed into a heart-pumping tourist attraction called the Cutty Sark Rig Climbing Experience.
The staff will brief you before you begin to climb. Starting from the main deck, you will pass from the ratlines, climb the shrouds, navigate the yardarms and be among the rigging. Your efforts will see you stand on the upper platform for exceptional views and a feeling of achievement. You will then return via a controlled descent back down to earth, ready to experience more adrenaline-fuelled sights.
Imagine what your friends and family will think after you tell them of your endeavours.
Speedboat Trips along the River Thames
Feel the breeze on your face as you speed past the sights of the riverbank. Embrace your inner James Bond and take on The Tower Beast speedboat ride. They provide guided commentary following the rumbling sound effects of the beast’s belly and smoke seen at the start.
Your 45-minute journey will take in impressive sights including the Shard, HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge and the Thames Flood Barriers before circling back at high speeds on your return journey past Canary Wharf and the Tower of London. Enjoy the loud music of their stereo and remember to buy an onboard video or photos of your adventure. Private boat hire is also possible.
Climb the Roof of the O2
Don’t just listen to the incredible music inside this iconic venue. Now you can spend an exhilarating 90 minutes scaling the Up at The O2 climb. They supply the harness, climbing jacket and boots, whilst a climbing guide will accompany you to answer your questions about the glorious London skyline.
When you reach the summit, located 52 metres higher than the domed arena, your experience will be rewarded with 360-degree views of the city.
Will you book the Daytime, Sunset or Twilight Climb? Each option has something special to offer for you and your guests.
