8 of London’s Hottest Upcoming Spring/Summer Events for 2022

The cold, dark nights are finally on their way out as summer beckons, and after the past two years, we think it’s safe to say everyone’s ready to enjoy the new season with their friends and family. That’s why we’ve rounded up some super cool events on London’s upcoming social calendar that are well worth checking out.

Please check with individual venues for their Covid-19 policies.

  1. ABBA Voyage – Stratford

This year, a custom-built venue within Stratford’s iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is set to host the concert of a lifetime – ABBA Voyage. Beginning 27th May and running right through the year, this spectacular event featuring the band’s virtual avatars, accompanied by a 10-piece live band, is already selling out fast for summer. But there are still spots available if you’re quick! It’s going to be an experience like no other. https://abbavoyage.com/

  1. Notting Hill Carnival – Notting Hill

London’s biggest street party is back for 2022! First held in 1966 and still growing in popularity, the festival will once again see the streets of West London flooded with colour, music and those fabulous Caribbean flavours it’s so famous for. This event is always busy, so it’s best to come prepared, but the electric atmosphere is most definitely worth it. This year’s carnival begins 27th August. https://nhcarnival.org/

  1. Chelsea In Bloom – Chelsea

An alternative to the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show, head down to the streets of Chelsea for a series of floral masterpieces displayed around a number of the area’s shops, restaurants and hotels. You can join a guided tour, or simply take a walk and browse these at your leisure. 23rd-28th May. https://www.chelseainbloom.co.uk/

  1. All Points East

Held in Victoria Park, All Points East is a relatively new addition to London’s extensive festival calendar. Spread across 10 days this August, experience live performances from some of music’s best-loved stars, as well as comedy shows, outdoor cinema showings and plenty of amazing food. https://www.allpointseastfestival.com/

Alternative and equally awesome summer music festivals in the East of London include Hackney’s Visions Festival, and Upminster’s We Are FSTVL.

  1. Greenwich + Docklands International Festival

Featuring innovative art productions, premieres and activities, this annual outdoor festival is all about celebrating the arts in all their glory. While the date and programme of events is still to be confirmed, look out for this celebration of all things creative in August. https://festival.org/gdif/

  1. Taste of London – Regent’s Park

One for the foodies, this is another great London festival that sees some of the capital’s best restaurants gathering to show off what they do best. Demonstrations, masterclasses and plenty of opportunities to sample a range of great dishes, this event has something for everyone. 15th-19th June. https://london.tastefestivals.com/

  1. The O2 – Greenwich

There’s so much on at the O2 this season that we could talk about it all day, but if you’re in the mood for some live music in the company of thousands and in a phenomenal venue, you’re in the right place. Some highlights for this year include:

  • Craig David – 16th-17th April
  • Little Mix – 12th-14th May
  • The Script – 4th June
  • Billie Eilish – 10th-26th June
  • Kings of Leon – 1st-2nd July
  • Snoop Dogg – 30th August

Plus many, many more. See the full line-up here: https://www.theo2.co.uk/events/venue/the-o2-arena

  1. Wimbledon – Wimbledon

Finally, we couldn’t really do a London events round-up without talking about one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world, which brings us to Wimbledon. Athletes from across the globe return to the courts here on 27th June, so get your strawberries and cream ready and settle in for the action we’ve all missed so much. https://www.wimbledon.com/

Of course, this list is far from exhaustive.

In the world of theatre, new shows such as Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe and Grease at the Dominion Theatre are set to make their entrance (https://www.westendtheatre.com/).

And, on a more local level, Hackney’s Bohemia Place Market and The Hackney Social have a number of specialist markets and events lined up throughout the summer months as well. (https://bohemiaplacemarket.com/).
